A Good Boy

Leave a Comment
I woke before the morning, I was happy all the day,
I never said an ugly word, but smiled and stuck to play.

And now at last the sun is going down behind the wood,
And I am very happy, for I know that I've been good.

My bed is waiting cool and fresh, with linen smooth and fair,
And I must be off to sleep, and not forget my prayer.

I know that, till tomorrow I shall see the sun rise,
No ugly dream shall fright my mind, no ugly sight my eyes.

But slumber hold me tightly till I waken in the dawn,
And hear the thrushes singing in the illacs round the lawn.

The Blind Boy

Leave a Comment

O say, what is that thing called light,
Which I can ne'er enjoy?
What is the blessing of the sight?
O tell your poor blind boy!

You talk of wondrous things you see,
You say the sun shines bright;
I feel him warm, but now can he
Then make it day or night?

My day or night myself I make
Whenever I sleep or play;
And could I ever keep awake
With me it were always day.

With heavy sighs I often hear
You mourn my hapless woe;
But sure with patience I may bear
A loss I never know.

Then let not what I cannot have
My cheer of mind destroy;
Whilst thus I sing, I am a king,
Although a poor blind boy.

The Trees

Leave a Comment
If walnuts come from walnut trees,
And almonds come from almond trees,
Then how come acorns come from oaks?
Can anyone explain this, please?

A redwood tree's not really red,
And a red pine trees are green,(not red).
So, why's are the white birch aptly named?
And why's the white pine green instead?

Now, ash trees don't grow ashes. Right?
And beech trees aren't beaches. Right?
And fir trees don't have a furry trunks;
Although, that WOULD be quite a sight!

These tree! These trees! I wish it would
Be less confusing in thw wood!
If trees had better-chosen names,
They might be better understood.

Little Things

Leave a Comment
Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean.
And the beauteous land.

And the little moments,
Humble though they be,
Make the mighty ages
Of eternity.

So our little errors
Lead the soul away,
From the paths of virtue
Into sin to stray.

Little deads of kindness,
Little words of love,
Make our earth an Eden,
Like the heaven above.

The Four Seasons

Leave a Comment
The seasons change
Four times a year
From spring to winter
They appear

Spring is wet
The flower grow
The sun appears
And melts the snow.

Summer is hot
It's full of sun
There is no school
It's lot of fun.

Autumn is cool
The leaves fall down
It rains a lot
All over the town.

Winter is cold
The snowflakes fall
We skate and ski
And make snowballs.

The season change
From sun to snow
And that is all
You need to know!

The arrow

Leave a Comment
"I shot an arrow into the air,
 It fell to earth, I knew not where;
 For,so swiftly it flew, the sight
 Could not follow it in its flight.

 I breathed a song into the air,
 It fell to earth, I knew not where;
 For who has sight so keen and strong,
 That it can follow the flight of song ?

 Long, Long afterward, in an oak
 I found the arrow, still unbroke;
 And the song, from beginning to end,
 I found again in the heart of a friend".

Laugh at it

Leave a Comment
"When you hear the merry rain
  Patter at the window-pane,
 Think 'twill soon be fine again;
 So laugh at it !

 If you chance to tumble down,
Though you bump your little crown,
Never cry or pout or frown,
Just laugh at it !

 When the sum is hard to do,
 Rub it out and try a new;
 When you get the answer true
 You'll laugh at it !

Kitty's Bedtime Prayer

Leave a Comment
"Now I lay down to sleep,
 I pray this cushy life to keep.
 I pray for toys that look like mice,
 And sofa cushions,soft and nice.

 For grocery bags where I can hide,
 Just like a tiger,crouched inside !
 I pray for gourmet nice to scratch my back.

 For window sills all warm and bright,
 For shadows to explore at night.
 I pray I'll always stay real cool,
 And keep the secret feline rule.

 To never tell a human that...
 The world is really ruled by cats!

 On my face never a frown
 I am just the best in town
 The one and only-Bozo,the clown!

 I make you all laugh everyday
 With my acts and what I say
 I cheer you up when you are down
 I am your frien -Bozo the clown!

 Oh! I am so round and fat,

  Moby,Lucy,Jack and Joe
  Bouncing with our hampers
  Full of food and crackers
  On a picnic we will go

  We will sing and play
  We will dance all day
  By the river we will sit
  Goodies we will eat
